Working as a Volunteer at Sacred Heart Mission's OpShop is one of my best experiences in Melbourne.

 

An OpShop (Opportunity Shop) is usually operated by charity, to which new or used goods are donated, for sale at a low price. This type of shop is very common in New Zealand and Australia.

 

As a retail assistant, my role involves doing day-to-day tasks in the South Melbourne OpShop such as sorting, tagging and hanging clothes; arranging and displaying items and supporting with payment and customer service.

 

This experience not only gives me firsthand knowledge of the retail industry but also significantly boosts my interpersonal communication and customer service skills. Most of all, I had the chance to meet and work with a lot of people from all around the world that share the same dedication and willingness to give back to community.
